MEET THE WARRIORS BEHIND THE SCENES

Warrior Up To Win was created to help young athletes build the habits that support health, energy, and high performance in every area of life.

The program grew from a passion for youth development and a belief that the habits children form early—especially around nutrition—can shape not only their athletic performance, but also their focus, confidence, and long-term success in life.

The inspiration began with a simple request from a girls’ hockey coach in Calgary, Alberta—Coach Greg. Frustrated that many of his players were arriving at games with fast food, candy snacks, and sugary drinks, he was searching for guidance that could help encourage healthier choices and better habits for his team.

That request sparked a deeper exploration into youth nutrition. Through conversations with parents, coaches, health professionals, and young athletes themselves, one thing quickly became clear:

Most youth sports programs provide very little nutrition education until athletes reach elite levels.

What started as a simple effort to share a few practical nutrition tips soon grew into something much bigger.

Along the way, several remarkable people helped shape the Warrior Up To Win program.

Warrior Susan Valandra, a Board-Certified Holistic Nutritionist, became a key part of bringing the nutrition education to life. With extensive training in holistic nutrition and clinical experience working with active individuals, Susan brings both expertise and enthusiasm to the program. As a lifelong athlete herself, she understands the demands placed on young bodies and the important role nutrition plays in supporting energy, recovery, and performance.

We were also grateful for the wisdom and support of Dr. Tricia, a Naturopathic Doctor, whose holistic approach to wellness reinforced the connection between nutrition, energy, and long-term health. Dr. Tricia has also helped bring the program into action with a swim team, giving Warrior Up To Win an early foundation in real-world youth athletics.

Dr. Ellsworth also contributed valuable perspective and encouragement that helped strengthen the program’s message and mission.

And as the program began to grow, Jenna Trudeau helped take it into the school setting by launching Warrior Up To Win in an elementary school in Canada—an exciting step forward in bringing these lessons to children in everyday life, not just in sports.

Together, these insights and early champions helped transform a small idea into an engaging learning experience for young athletes, families, and schools.

Today, the Warrior Up To Win Program includes two levels and twelve video lessons, designed to help kids understand how the food choices they make every day influence their energy, focus, performance, and overall well-being.

Guiding them through the journey is the unforgettable Warrior Ben—the big kid who loves learning how to be healthy and helping young Warriors do the same.

What began as a small seed of an idea has grown into a program supported by an incredible community of advisors, coaches, parents, educators, and young athletes who believe in helping the next generation develop stronger habits for life.

Our hope is simple:

That every young Warrior who experiences this program gains the knowledge and confidence to make better choices—choices that support strong bodies, clear minds, and high performance in every area of life.

We hope you enjoy the program as much as we have enjoyed creating it.

May it leave a lasting impression on your Warrior and your whole family.

To your health,

Team Warrior Up To Win  😉

Naturopath Medical Doctor - Dr. Robert Ellsworth, N.M.D., F.A.A

“I love this “Warrior UP To Win” Program because it’s teaching kids how to eat right and the kids that pay attention to this program are really going to see a difference on the playing field. I also love that you are teaching them how to read labels and to look not only for the sugar and salt but the food coloring.

These are all contributors to the extreme ADD and ADHD problems children face today. We believe a large contributor to these diseases are the foods kids eat. If they follow the Warrior UP To Win Program, it will help tremendously in many areas. I am really happy to support this program. You are doing a great thing.”

Dr. Ellsworth received his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and completed his studies as a Naturopathic Physician at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona.

Dr Ellsworth has a comprehensive 3 step method for helping ADD/ADHD children and adults. His son, Austin, had struggled with ADHD as a child and Dr. Ellsworth and his wife were not in agreement to use the common medications prescribed.

Through the journey they discovered alternative methods to stabilize the condition and Austin began to thrive as a child and went on to an extraordinary career in film production.

Austin also worked with his father, to create a program for ADHD patients. It is there mission to educate children and adults that there are options for treating ADD and ADHD symptoms. Learn more about the program on their website.

In Dr. Ellsworth’s free time, he and his wife Sue enjoy hiking and camping with their chocolate lab Molly and visiting Colorado to visit their 3 sons, daughter-in-laws and 4 grandchildren.

Board Certified Holistic Nutritionist - Susan Valandra - "Warrior Susan

I’m Susan Valandra and it’s an honor to be working alongside Warrior Up to Win’s young athlete nutrition program!

As a Board Certified Holistic Nutritionist, my goal in working with individuals is always the same, to empower and educate you to use food as medicine to maximize healing and energy production in the body.

Holistic Nutrition works to treat the whole person, incorporating your unique individuality into each program to ensure the healthiest and happiest you!

I’m originally from Michigan, and I grew up as an athlete throughout my entire life. Competing in gymnastics as a child and young teen, and then playing competitive tennis and golf most of my high school career, I know what demands a competitive athletic schedule can have on a young body. Growing up, I had no clue what to put into my body for accelerating my athletic performance, and constantly struggled with injuries and fatigue that I thought were just inevitable. Now, I know with proper nutritional support, you can be an energetic, high-performing athlete! With that knowledge, I now happily and healthily enjoy tennis, mountain biking and hiking here in Phoenix!

After an illness in my early 20s, which prevented me from playing competitive tennis, I decided to go back to school at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts to study Holistic Nutrition. I became Certified as a Holistic Nutritionist in 2012 and because I loved it so much, I decided to deepen my knowledge of holistic nutrition and enrolled at the Energetic Health Institute for additional certifications in 2016. With over 1000 hours of study specifically in holistic nutrition and health and over 500 hours of clinical practice, I’ve got tons of knowledge and experience to help people just like you! I currently focus my business on working with active individuals, who want to maximize their health and enjoy their active, athletic lifestyles to the fullest!

I opened my nutrition consulting practice in April of 2013 and have been loving it ever since! I take a holistic approach to wellness and incorporate more than just nutrition into an overall wellness plan. I work with athletes and active lifestyle individuals, just like you, to incorporate sustainable changes to help you learn how to eat and live for a strong and resilient body. With overall goals of increased energy and sense of well-being, I work with you to create your best self yet! This is done through targeting specific nutrients your body needs, finding foods and supplements containing those nutrients, and determining the best ways to incorporate them into your diet. By increasing your nutrient intake, you increase your energy, strength and your body’s healing potential.

I’m excited to be a part of the WarriorUp to Win program and I look forward to working with you on your journey to energetic, athletic health!

Naturopathic Doctor - Dr. Tricia Breckon, ND

I am so excited to be a part of the Warrior Up to Win program as we share the common goal of educating young people and their families to be healthier, stronger and empowered to make good nutritional choices! As a mom with two young boys, it’s encouraging to see such a great program in place that can provide young athletes the tools they need to achieve their full potential in sport and in life.

I have always been an athlete in some form or another for as long as I can remember (the current sport being motherhood!). One of my fondest times was competing in track and field for the University of Calgary. Over the years I struggled with consistency and various injuries that ultimately interfered with my training, competing and day-to-day life. I don’t regret the injuries as they ultimately led me to naturopathic medicine and my dream career, but I do regret not having a better understanding of how pivotal a proper nutritional foundation can be not only for performance in sport but also for injury prevention and injury rehabilitation.

I often wonder how differently my track and field career could have played out if I had the information then that I do now.

Although I especially enjoy working with athletes of all ages and skill levels, I also have a general family naturopathic practice. I have interests in nutrition, optimizing digestion, stress management, environmental allergies, injury rehabilitation and women’s health. I offer a range of services including one-on-one consultations, lab testing (food sensitivities, allergies, hormones, micronutrients, etc.), intravenous (IV) therapy, injection therapies and body composition analysis.

Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant - Jenna Rose Trudeau

I’m thrilled to be a part of the Warrior Up to Win advisory team! I’m super excited to help educate the young warriors. Especially, because my journey into the world of health began at a very young age and it has stuck with me every since.

When I was 13 years old, I went to Hawaii to visit my Aunty Kelly, Warrior Kelly, and she convinced me to do a 4-week, eat clean Challenge! Little did I know that what I was getting into was going to have a huge impact on my future.

The challenge was to simply eat clean, no processed foods, eat every two-three hours, increase water intake, exercise and become aware of what we were putting into our bodies. Very similar to the challenge you’re about to experience with Warrior Up to Win!

During the Challenge, I felt better then I have every felt, had tons of energy, felt amazing in my body and most importantly it empowered me to make healthy, whole food choices for the rest of my life! Looking back, it was the start of my career!

After returning home, I naturally shared my new passion for clean eating enrolling my family, friends and even teachers at school in the Challenge I kept doing!

Besides a busy school schedule,I played competitive hockey.  I remember packing my lunchbox the night before school with healthy meals, plenty of water, snacks, vitamins and enough food for the whole day and evening. Thanks to my Mom, I had a kitchen full of good choices and being organized the night before were the two factors that kept me consistently eating healthy and away from fast food.

My passion at such a young age for feeling good in my body and clean eating was life changing and has created a ripple effect in my life as I’m always educating people daily how to eat healthy.

Today, as a Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant, an organizational expert and a Three Star Director with Tupperware, I now take what I have learnt over the years and educate individuals on nutrition, meal prepping and organization to create ease and possibilities in their busy schedules.

My mission through my business is to help families such as yours, save time, money, energy and eat healthier!

I’m really looking forward to supporting you throughout the Warrior Up To Win challenge. This is a fantastic program and I hope it impacts your life as it did for me!
