MEET THE WARRIORS BEHIND THE SCENES
Warrior Up To Win was created to help young athletes build the habits that support health, energy, and high performance in every area of life.
The program grew from a passion for youth development and a belief that the habits children form early—especially around nutrition—can shape not only their athletic performance, but also their focus, confidence, and long-term success in life.
The inspiration began with a simple request from a girls’ hockey coach in Calgary, Alberta—Coach Greg. Frustrated that many of his players were arriving at games with fast food, candy snacks, and sugary drinks, he was searching for guidance that could help encourage healthier choices and better habits for his team.
That request sparked a deeper exploration into youth nutrition. Through conversations with parents, coaches, health professionals, and young athletes themselves, one thing quickly became clear:
Most youth sports programs provide very little nutrition education until athletes reach elite levels.
What started as a simple effort to share a few practical nutrition tips soon grew into something much bigger.
Along the way, several remarkable people helped shape the Warrior Up To Win program.
Warrior Susan Valandra, a Board-Certified Holistic Nutritionist, became a key part of bringing the nutrition education to life. With extensive training in holistic nutrition and clinical experience working with active individuals, Susan brings both expertise and enthusiasm to the program. As a lifelong athlete herself, she understands the demands placed on young bodies and the important role nutrition plays in supporting energy, recovery, and performance.
We were also grateful for the wisdom and support of Dr. Tricia, a Naturopathic Doctor, whose holistic approach to wellness reinforced the connection between nutrition, energy, and long-term health. Dr. Tricia has also helped bring the program into action with a swim team, giving Warrior Up To Win an early foundation in real-world youth athletics.
Dr. Ellsworth also contributed valuable perspective and encouragement that helped strengthen the program’s message and mission.
And as the program began to grow, Jenna Trudeau helped take it into the school setting by launching Warrior Up To Win in an elementary school in Canada—an exciting step forward in bringing these lessons to children in everyday life, not just in sports.
Together, these insights and early champions helped transform a small idea into an engaging learning experience for young athletes, families, and schools.
Today, the Warrior Up To Win Program includes two levels and twelve video lessons, designed to help kids understand how the food choices they make every day influence their energy, focus, performance, and overall well-being.
Guiding them through the journey is the unforgettable Warrior Ben—the big kid who loves learning how to be healthy and helping young Warriors do the same.
What began as a small seed of an idea has grown into a program supported by an incredible community of advisors, coaches, parents, educators, and young athletes who believe in helping the next generation develop stronger habits for life.
Our hope is simple:
That every young Warrior who experiences this program gains the knowledge and confidence to make better choices—choices that support strong bodies, clear minds, and high performance in every area of life.
We hope you enjoy the program as much as we have enjoyed creating it.
May it leave a lasting impression on your Warrior and your whole family.
To your health,
Team Warrior Up To Win 😉
Naturopath Medical Doctor - Dr. Robert Ellsworth, N.M.D., F.A.A
“I love this “Warrior UP To Win” Program because it’s teaching kids how to eat right and the kids that pay attention to this program are really going to see a difference on the playing field. I also love that you are teaching them how to read labels and to look not only for the sugar and salt but the food coloring.
These are all contributors to the extreme ADD and ADHD problems children face today. We believe a large contributor to these diseases are the foods kids eat. If they follow the Warrior UP To Win Program, it will help tremendously in many areas. I am really happy to support this program. You are doing a great thing.”
Dr. Ellsworth received his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and completed his studies as a Naturopathic Physician at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona.
Dr Ellsworth has a comprehensive 3 step method for helping ADD/ADHD children and adults. His son, Austin, had struggled with ADHD as a child and Dr. Ellsworth and his wife were not in agreement to use the common medications prescribed.
Through the journey they discovered alternative methods to stabilize the condition and Austin began to thrive as a child and went on to an extraordinary career in film production.
Austin also worked with his father, to create a program for ADHD patients. It is there mission to educate children and adults that there are options for treating ADD and ADHD symptoms. Learn more about the program on their website.
In Dr. Ellsworth’s free time, he and his wife Sue enjoy hiking and camping with their chocolate lab Molly and visiting Colorado to visit their 3 sons, daughter-in-laws and 4 grandchildren.
